At St. Pete Moving and Storage, we believe in more than just providing our clients with a simple and hassle-free moving and storage experience: We also strive to give back to our communities. That’s why we participated in the National Association of Letter Carriers’ (NALC) Stamp Out Hunger food drive on Saturday, May 14th. This annual event always occurs on the second Saturday in May because food pantries are often depleted by this time of the year and with summer approaching, many children risk missing meals because they will stop receiving free school lunches. We were proud to offer our equipment and moving expertise to support this important effort to prevent families from going hungry.

Since 1991, the NALC has provided much-needed donations to local food pantries across the country. The Stamp Out Hunger drive takes place in all 50 states and is the largest one-day food drive in the country! More than 10,000 cities and towns participated this year and while the final numbers are still being tallied, the organization is confident that this year’s totals will outshine last year’s haul of 71 million pounds of donated food that was worth an estimated $150 million.

At St. Pete’s Moving and Storage, we were excited to do what we could to help. Using our advanced moving equipment, we were able to assist the NALC with the transportation of their donations to make the food drive process simpler and more streamlined. We collected about 105,000 pounds of food that was donated to our local food bank, the St. Pete Free Clinic Food Bank.
